Celebrating 40 years of Peanuts magic in Eugene’s Friendly neighborhood

EUGENE, Ore. – A beloved holiday tradition is marking its 40th anniversary in Eugene’s “Friendly Neighborhood.” For decades, the iconic Peanuts Christmas yard display has charmed locals at 2150 Friendly Street.

Marv Glover and his daughter Sarah created the display in 1985. During their first Christmas in the home, they checked out “A Charlie Brown Christmas” from the Eugene Public Library. Marv took photos of the characters, developed them into slides, and projected and traced them onto life-sized pieces of plywood. Together, they cut out and hand-painted each character.

“We have people who are in their second maybe even third but we have a lot of second-generation people who come by to take their pictures in front of it because they remember their mother taking their pictures when they were little kids in front of it,” Glover said. “So it’s interesting we are big people in a small neighborhood.”…
