Update: Winter weather advisory affecting Cascades Friday and Saturday – as much as 11 inches of snow

At 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory valid from Friday 4 a.m. until Saturday 4 p.m. for North Oregon Cascades, Cascades of Marion and Linn counties and Cascades of Lane County.

“Snow expected above 4000 ft. Total snow accumulations up to 11 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph,” says the weather service. “During periods of heavier snow and stronger winds, visibility may be impacted.”

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” describes the weather service. “Have a winter emergency driving kit readily available. Common items to include: flashlight, batteries, blankets, a shovel, water, non-perishable food items, tire chains, etc. Be aware that walking surfaces may be slick. Walk with extra care.”
