Lane County, OR – On Christmas Eve, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office announced the passing of K9 Poppy, a veteran search and rescue dog who served the county for more than seven years. The 11-year-old golden retriever completed her final mission surrounded by those who had worked beside her for years.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Poppy was trained in Wilderness Air Scent and Human Remains Detection, earning certifications that made her an essential part of dozens of missions across Oregon.
