EUGENE, Ore. – Lane County residents should prepare for a change in traffic conditions this week. Crews from the City of Eugene and Lane County are installing new speed limit signs on North River Road.
The updated speed limit will be 35 miles per hour through the north end of the urban growth boundary. Workers are placing the new signs from Azalea Drive to Beacon Drive, and the reduced limit will take effect as soon as the signs are up.
“I’ve worked here for five years and I’ve seen numerous accidents out here,” said Linda Heidemann, assistant manager at ARCO. “People drive way too fast, it gets congested all the way back. It’s just a very dangerous area.”…
