Traffic stop in Eugene reveals drugs and weapons; felon arrested

EUGENE, Ore. – A 58-year-old Eugene man was arrested on Monday night on multiple charges after fleeing from a traffic stop at high speed, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

LCSO officials said that the incident began at about 11 p.m. on Dec. 29 when a deputy noticed Dendy’s 2003 Chevy Trailblazer stopped in the middle of Irving Road. The vehicle sped away, prompting deputies to monitor its reckless path, authorities said. Officers planned to spike the tires, but the vehicle hit a concrete curb, flattening the driver’s side tires and slowing down. Sheriff’s officials said that, despite the damage, Dendy continued driving for several miles before surrendering. A search of the vehicle revealed a pistol, two daggers, ammunition, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, deputies said.
