Restaurants in Eugene-Springfield come and go throughout the year.
In 2025, our community lost some great restaurants, bars and food trucks. One particularly painful loss was longtime campus coffee staple, Espresso Roma, which was razed to make way for a new housing development.
All of the places on this list will be thoroughly missed, whether we were visiting them for late-night bites or morning bagel sandwiches. Luckily, the list of restaurants that closed is much shorter than the list of restaurants that opened in 2025.
Bagel Sphere
Bagel Sphere closed its downtown location in 2025, but still continues to operate at 4089 W. 11th Ave.
The Chicken Shanty
The Chicken Shanty had a brief stint in downtown Eugene serving chicken tenders and wings. The restaurant closed in 2025.
Atlas Mediterranian
Atlas was a quick, healthy lunch option near the University of Oregon campus, but closed in early 2025. It has since been replaced by Nelson’s on Campus.
Pho King
No more pho! Pho King closed its doors in the spring of 2025. Now, the space is occupied by Poppi’s Greek Taverna.
Off the Waffle
Off the Waffle ceased operations at its South Eugene location, but continues to serve up imaginative breakfast creations at 840 Willamette St. in Eugene.
Viking Brewing
Viking Brewing closed its doors in early summer of 2025. The restaurant and brewery will be fondly remembered for its great beer and bar grub.
Manifest Brewing
Manifest Brewing closed its doors in downtown Eugene in early 2025.
Hop Valley
Hop Valley ceased operations at its Whiteaker location, but continues to serve beer at 980 Kruse Way in Springfield.
Espresso Roma
Beloved campus coffee shop Espresso Roma closed its doors in late 2025 to make way for new construction near UO campus.
Santo de la Torta
Cascade Biscuit Kitchen
Cascade Biscuit Kitchen closed in 2025 and reopened under the same ownership as Sofia’s Trattoria in 2026.
Sam Bond’s Garage
After announcing their closure for the end of 2024, Sam Bond’s Garage managed to stay open for another year under the same ownership. Now, the bar is permanently closed, though the rumor mill is saying there are hopes of a turn-key operation re-opening the bar in 2026.
The Paddock
The historical Paddock closed its doors for the last time in 2025, and will soon be home to Lion & Owl in West Eugene.
Velvet
Community gathering space and coffee shop Velvet closed its doors in the fall of 2026.
Poco Loco
Mexican food truck Poco Loco closed in late 2025…
