Dog’s barks lead rescuers to missing woman in Lane County

LANE COUNTY, Ore. — As temperatures hovered around 40 degrees Monday evening, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) received an urgent search and rescue call.

Karen Davis, 82, had gone missing from her home on Warthen Road in Elmira.

With overnight temperatures expected to dip into the 30s, the urgency was high. A team of roughly 10 volunteers from the LCSO’s Search and Rescue, including members from Eugene Mountain Rescue, was activated.
