Eugene police launch peer navigator program to aid downtown addiction struggles

EUGENE, Ore. — In an effort to help those struggling with addiction, the Eugene Police Department is launching a new Peer Navigation Initiative centered on downtown Eugene.

EPD is joining with Ideal Option, a nationwide specialist in outpatient addiction care.

The program will have two full time peer navigators who will speak with those in need in downtown Eugene, connecting them with resources which EPD says will allow for better allocation of resources…
