Protesters rally in Eugene against recent ICE and CPB shootings

EUGENE, Ore. — Community members gathered at the federal building in Eugene on Friday, and over the weekend, to protest recent shootings involving ICE in Minneapolis and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) in Portland.

Drusilla Winters, a protester, expressed her disapproval of the Department of Homeland Security’s actions, stating, “The way they are treating people is totally unacceptable…” She noted progress in their efforts, saying, “…when I first started coming here there would be a DHS agent telling me to get the heck out of here. But now they’re scared of us and that’s good, they should be.”

Winters emphasized the importance of numbers in their movement, urging, “…we need you, we just need your presence…”…
