Record cold in Eugene tests shelters; community help crucial

EUGENE, Ore. – As cold nights persist in Lane County, the demand for warming shelters is reaching critical levels. Egan Warming Centers have been open for eight consecutive days, pushing both staff and volunteers to their limits.

“If someone needs support and someone needs shelter, they will get it,” Bill Barnard, Director of Operations for St. Vincent de Paul, said. “We will find a way.”
