Lane County sheriff’s deputies arrest multiple drivers for alleged impaired driving

LANE COUNTY, Ore. – Multiple drivers were recently arrested for alleged impaired driving throughout Lane County, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

On Jan. 24, deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on London Road, south of Cottage Grove. James Britton Hurst, 51, of Creswell, failed to navigate a corner, leading to a collision. Deputies observed signs of impairment, and Hurst was arrested for DUII.

Later that day, another crash occurred near Cottage Grove Reservoir Road. Virginia Louise Payment, 84, of Creswell, struck several trees and was taken to a hospital. She was arrested for DUII after deputies noted impairment…
