GOSHEN, Ore. – Lane County Sheriff’s deputies faced a tense situation on Tuesday morning when serving a restraining order to a Goshen man, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
LCSO officials said they responded at 10 a.m. on Feb. 3 to a home on West Peebles Road south of Goshen to serve a restraining order to 53-year-old Jason Speed McLaughlin. McLaughlin, who was ordered to leave his residence, armed himself with a knife and resisted arrest, sheriff’s deputies said. LCSO officials said deputies attempted to negotiate with McLaughlin for about 90 minutes, but he escalated the situation by throwing glass at a sergeant’s face. A drone and K9 Ayk from the Eugene Police Department were deployed to assist. Despite McLaughlin’s continued resistance, he was eventually arrested.
McLaughlin faces multiple charges, including violation of a restraining order, criminal trespass, menacing, and animal abuse. McLaughlin had also harassed a resident and injured a puppy, leading to additional charges…
