On Sunday at 10 a.m. a winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from Monday 4 a.m. until Thursday 4 a.m. for North Oregon Coast Range, Central Oregon Coast Range, Clackamas County Cascade Foothills, Cascade Foothills of Marion and Linn counties and Lane County Cascade Foothills.
“Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches from Monday morning through Monday night. Another 0.5 to 2 inches of snow is expected from Tuesday morning through Tuesday night, then another 2 to 5 inches of snow is expected from Wednesday morning through Wednesday night,” can be expected according to the weather service. “The reason that forecast snow amounts are lowest on Tuesday is because precipitation will become light and more isolated. However, precipitation becomes relatively heavier and more widespread again on Wednesday.”
“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” states the weather service. “Have a winter emergency driving kit readily available. Common items to include: flashlight, batteries, blankets, a shovel, water, non-perishable food items, tire chains, etc. Be aware that walking surfaces may be slick. Walk with extra care.”
