Deputies track crash suspects with multiple K-9 units in South Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. — Deputies searching for the driver of a crashed, sedan in south Eugene late Wednesday ended up tracking a suspect over fences with two police dogs, before finding him hiding in a backyard, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) tells us.

On February 19, 2026, just before midnight, deputies responded to the area of S. Willamette Street and Fox Hollow Road for a possible crash. They found a heavily damaged sedan that had destroyed a guardrail, but the vehicle was unoccupied. A witness reported seeing two people walking north of the crash.

A sergeant responded with K9 Tito, who began tracking north toward Spencer Butte. Deputies then spotted two people north of K9 Tito on S. Willamette Street…
