Library operations levy on May ballot with proposed increase

EUGENE, OR — The City of Eugene first instituted a five-year levy to fund its libraries back in 2015, but now, a proposal is on the May ballot to increase that levy from 15 cents to 19 cents per $1,000 of property value.

That increase would mean homeowners would pay an average of $54 a year toward the libraries, or $4.50 a month.

With the increase, that funding would support aspects of the library like enhanced early childhood education and two remote library kiosks…
