Lane County deputies catch Dexter man after crash chase

DEXTER, Ore. – A dramatic chase unfolded on February 27 when Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a head-on crash on Eagles Rest Road, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

LCSO officials said that James Lawrence Gehrman, 55, of Dexter, fled the scene in his damaged vehicle before being located by a BLM Ranger several miles away. A deputy and K9 Ripp were dispatched to the area and found Gehrman hiding in the nearby forest. After initially resisting, Gehrman surrendered without further incident. Gehrman is now facing multiple charges, including failing to perform duties of a driver, disorderly conduct, and being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon…
