EUGENE, Ore. – A deputy who was assisting with medication distribution was attacked Thursday with a mop handle by an inmate at Lane County Jail, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Lane County Jail, the inmate, identified as 62-year-old John Paul Lockhart, 62, of Medford, assaulted the deputy, causing injuries to his arm and torso. The deputy attempted to use pepper spray, but it was ineffective. Lockhart was already in custody for multiple warrants and crimes.
