Woman loses house to fire after mishap with a matchstick in Sweet Home

SWEET HOME Ore. (KPTV) – A woman is without a home after a house fire in Sweet Home on Sunday morning, according to the Sweet Home Fire District.

Just before 7:30 a.m., neighbors called 911 about a manufactured home filled with flames.

According to SHFD, the woman who lived in the home said the fire started when she struck a match to light her woodstove, and the flaming head of the matchstick broke off and fell onto a couch.

Firefighters said the woman tried to move the burning couch out of the house, but was unable to do so and was forced to escape from the burning home herself…
