Springfield rally supports local ER doctors amidst contract changes

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Healthcare workers and community members rallied Thursday outside PeaceHealth RiverBend in Springfield to express their support for local emergency room doctors. The event, called the “Save Our Docs Rally,” highlights ongoing concerns over recent administrative changes.

The group gathered on March 12 at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Cardinal Way. Rally organizers emphasized their support for the Eugene Emergency Physicians group. Several weeks ago, PeaceHealth leaders ended their contract with the Eugene Emergency Physicians group. They signed ApolloMD, a Georgia-based company, to manage the emergency room doctors instead. Recently, staff overwhelmingly approved a vote of no confidence in PeaceHealth leadership. This decision was due to the contract change and other recent developments.
