Lane County’s Free Community Compost Program is giving away 5,000 tons of compost made from local food and yard waste. The compost comes from the City of Eugene’s Love Food Not Waste® program and will be distributed at eight free events across the county and through direct deliveries to farmers and community gardens.
The program runs from fall 2024 through spring 2026 and aims to reduce landfill waste, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and improve local soil health. Residents in Eugene, Springfield, Veneta, and other Lane County communities can take part and benefit from this sustainability effort.
