Man committed to state hospital in downtown murder case

A 38-year-old man charged in the fatal assault and stabbing of an unhoused man in a downtown Eugene alley will be civilly committed to Oregon State Hospital after a judge’s order Thursday, April 2.

Joshua Margarito Saldivar is to be held for at least one year, according to the order signed by Lane County Circuit Court Judge Michelle Bassi.
