The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce is actively engaging on the City of Springfield’s proposed payroll tax and keeping their members informed as the process moves forward.
With the resolution approved in December, the City Manager and staff have begun developing a detailed payroll tax proposal for consideration during council work sessions in the first half of 2026, the first of which will be this Monday, April 6th. These sessions will provide the primary forum for council to evaluate key elements of the proposal, including tax structure, rate design, compliance considerations, and administrative implementation. Read our recap from the previous public hearing where Councilors voted unanimously to direct city staff to begin developing a detailed proposal for council review.
