Heart attacks could become less deadly thanks to 4 new stations

PeaceHealth has rolled out outdoor automated external defibrillator new “SaveStations” at four sites in the Eugene-Springfield area.

The four stations are publicly accessible, and potentially lifesaving, said officials with PeaceHealth and the Eugene Springfield Fire Department.

“The things that save people’s lives is the ability to do CPR and to get shocks to somebody whose heart’s in fibrillation,” said Jim Cole, injury prevention coordinator for PeaceHealth. “And if you don’t have an AED close by or you don’t have something that’s going to help prompt you, you don’t have a successful outcome of those situations.”…
