Temporary sidewalk route installed near Eugene Federal Building at 6th Ave and Pearl St

EUGENE, Ore. — Pedestrians in downtown Eugene will see a change in how they move through the area near the Eugene Federal Building as an alternate sidewalk route is installed Monday, April 27, 2026, near the southeast corner of 6th Avenue and Pearl Street.

An area on Pearl Street that previously had been designated for parking is being repurposed into a temporary pedestrian access route. Concrete barriers will separate sidewalk users from travel lanes, and new asphalt ramps will allow safe transitions between the sidewalk and the street surface.

The federal government notified the city in February of its intent to install temporary security fencing around the building, including on the short stretch of sidewalk that is federal property…
