SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A sprinkler system stopped a structure fire from spreading late Friday evening off of 28th Street.
Eugene-Springfield Fire crews arrived to find the May 1 fire mostly extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system, which also triggered the alarm. People inside evacuated before firefighters got there.
“The fire did get above the sprinkler system, so that’s what we’re confirming to make sure it got completely out, so we didn’t have to put any hoses in there,” said Meyer. “But the sprinkler system basically saved the building.”…
