‘I’m done’: OCU closure forces international student to sell belongings to afford trip home

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WFIE) – Camilla Bedin graduated from Oakland City University last week. On Sunday, she held a yard sale to afford her plane ticket back to Italy.

Bedin, a trilingual senior from Italy, came to OCU on a full scholarship. She worked her way up from student to Resident Advisor to Resident Director, running a campus dorm. The university’s closure ended her plans to stay in the U.S. on an OPT visa, a work program for international students.

“I was planning to stay here, but with this all happening, I cannot transfer. I don’t want to transfer anymore. I’m done,” Bedin said…
