HENDERSON, Ky. (WEVV) — State transportation officials are reducing the speed limit at a major Henderson corridor starting this week to address safety concerns stemming from local traffic growth.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 announced Monday that the speed limit for the US-41 and US-60 interchange will drop from 45 mph to 35 mph.
The 10-mph reduction applies to the road segments connecting the following intersections:
- US-41A (Green Street) and Herron Avenue
- US-60 and Killiecrankie Drive
According to state officials, the adjustment is a direct response to increased commercial and residential development, which has caused heightened traffic congestion in the area. The updated speed limit is designed to optimize safety for multiple groups, including:
- Motorists navigating the interchange
- Pedestrians traveling along the corridor
- Adjacent residents and local businesses
New speed limit signs are already in place along the affected stretches of the roadway. Local law enforcement officials encourage drivers to remain alert, use caution, and immediately adjust their travel speeds to comply with the new limit…
