Traffic stop leads to man arrested for crack cocaine possession

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Evansville Police say one man is under arrest after a late night traffic stop led to police finding drugs.

Officers say this happened just after 10:00 p.m. Friday near North First Avenue and West Illinois Street. Police pulled over 47-year-old Desawn Pope of Evansville for having an inoperable headlight.

When the officer approached the vehicle, he could detect the odor of burnt marijuana. When asked if anyone had been smoking marijuana in his vehicle, Pope told police he had been to a party recently. He also told the officer that there may be a “roach clip” in the vehicle…
