HENDERSON, KY. (WFIE) – The Ellis Park is off and running, and once again, the jockey colony is very competitive. From Brian Hernandez Junior and Cristian Torres, to Florent Geroux and Luan Machado, there are plenty of big names, and that includes, Ben Curtis!
The Irish-born jockey is riding full time this summer at Ellis, for the first time, and he’s had immediate success, already. He’s currently second in the Ellis jockey standings, in total earnings, and he’s tied for the most wins, thus far, with six.
“I’ve been riding at Fairgrounds, and a lot of Churchill riders & trainers go to Fairgrounds, which led me to Churchill, where I did the meet, and Keeneland,” said jockey, Ben Curtis. “This seemed like a next logical step for me. I didn’t know whether it was going to go well or not. I’m not against taking risks, and this seemed like a risk, that could reward very well. We started the meet out great and long may it continue.”…
