Vanderburgh Co. Jail graduates inmates in food service certification program

VANDERBURGH CO. (WFIE) – The Vanderburgh County Jail is celebrating new graduates who are certified to work in food service once they are released.

The program, Aramark’s In-Two-Work, has graduated 25 inmates in the five years since its creation. Three inmates were added to that total at the ceremony Monday, where they showed off their culinary skills to family and friends.

Sheriff Noah Robinson said the program is proven to help lower barriers for inmates when re-entering society.

“These folks are leaving here with a tangible certificate that they can use to make themselves more attractive to employers, and people who are employed and walk out of here with somewhere to go and something to do are far less likely to fall back into old patterns that got them incarcerated in the first place,” said Sheriff Robinson…
