HENDERSON, KY. (WFIE) – Once again, the Ellis Park jockey colony is very competitive, this summer. From Brian Hernandez Jr. to Cristian Torres, there are plenty of big names, and that includes, Ben Curtis!
If you like to travel the world, being a horse racing jockey can easily take you on a wild ride. For Ireland native Ben Curtis, that’s exactly what has happened. Curtis is riding full time in the Ellis Park summer meet, for the first time!
“I’ve been riding at Fairgrounds, and a lot of Churchill riders & trainers go to Fairgrounds, which led me to Churchill, where I did the meet, and Keeneland,” said Curtis. “This seemed like a next logical step for me. I didn’t know whether it was going to go well or not. I’m not against taking risks, and this seemed like a risk, that could reward very well. We started the meet out great and long may it continue.”…
