HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) – Henderson’s parks master plan is moving from the drawing board to the ground, and Mayor Brad Staton says it touches nearly every corner of the city and nearly every age group.
The plan — developed over years with input from hundreds of residents — is now being implemented by a revamped parks board. Staton said the city has spent four years building up reserves and pursuing grants so residents will not see a tax increase to fund the projects.
“We’ve lowered two of our tax streams and the rest of them we’ve left the same rate and we’re growing our reserves at the same time,” Staton said. “As long as the outputs are such where we’re not asking you for more money and yet we’re able to accomplish all these things — I would be very happy.”
