EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – City crews are refreshing school zones across Evansville this week ahead of the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation’s first day of school on Aug. 10.
Workers are repainting crosswalks, installing new warning signs on both sides of the road and verifying that flashing school zone lights are functioning properly.
Flashing lights activated early
This year, the city is activating flashing school zone lights one week ahead of schedule to give drivers time to readjust to the 20 mph school zone speed limit before students return.
