“A mistake was made:” Henderson Animal Control changes approach to investigations

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Henderson County Animal Control has changed how it investigates animal cruelty cases following an officer’s “mistake.”

A statement from animal control says that during an investigation in the Braxton Park neighborhood back in July, an officer removed a dead dog from a property without getting a search warrant. The Henderson County Attorney’s Office later determined that this initial seizure violated the property owner’s Fourth Amendment rights.
