Brief break in the heatwave on the way

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -First Alert Weather Days continue through Saturday for extreme heat. We’re expecting temps to peak around 100 each day, nearly 15 degrees warmer than normal. Rain chances are minimal over the weekend. Temps will pull back into the lower 90s on Sunday and Monday, but the long range models take temps back into the upper 90s again by Tuesday through Thursday.

HIGHER RISK FOR HEAT-RELATED ILLNESS

As the heat wave drags on, the risk grows for heat-related illness each day. If you must work or do any activity in the hottest part of the days ahead, listen to your body for signs of heat-related illness. Dizziness, nausea, muscle cramping and headaches are telling you to stop, rest and drink more water. You should double up on water and avoid soft drinks or caffeine beverages. More severe symptoms like lack of sweat, hot, red skin or throbbing headaches, or unconsciousness signal heat stroke and require a call to 911…
