EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Investigators with the Evansville Police Department have arrested a woman after they say she used her position at an optometry office to delete her own bill and alter hundreds of patient records.
In August, officers responded to the Brizius, Embry & Smith optometry office on Lincoln Avenue to take a fraud report.
At the business, officers were told a former employee, 35-year-old Hannah Richardson, had deleted her own billing ledger. According to the police report, the amount of money owed on Richardson’s ledger was approximately $80.
The owners of the business told police they discovered a large number of ledgers had been altered in their system, preventing them from collecting outstanding bills…
