Bob Evans Demolished To Make Way for Chick-Fil-A

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) — A new Chick-Fil-A is set to replace the old Bob Evans location on Highway 54 in Owensboro. Thorndale Construction Services began demolition to prepare for the project.

Officials say they’ll work through the week to preserve bricks for the rebuild, and they say they’ll begin the process of rebuilding next week.

“Our next stage is removing the concrete. So, that includes like the building slabs, sidewalks, you know, the concrete products that are around. Those will also be going to recycling as well,” says Gary Colbert, the Superintendant of Thorndale.

Colbert says the building layout is more user friendly, and a little bigger than other locations in the area.

The Bob Evans location closed in 2016. Officials say they were originally supposed to begin demolition a year ago, but it was delayed because of ongoing discussions between property managers and Chick-fil-A.

Officials say they are employing as many local contractors as they can for the project
