Man involved in officer involved shooting pleads guilty

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A man involved in an officer involved shooting back in May 2023 pled guilty Tuesday to multiple charges.

Samuel E. Curry Jr. pled guilty to four counts of intimidation and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

Curry was supposed to have a jury trial the next day.

Back in May , Evansville Police state officers saw Curry pull into a gas station in the area of Heidelbach Avenue and Louisiana Street and was wanted on felony charges. Police say he threatened to kill several people.

Police state several police vehicles surrounded and blocked Curry from leaving, and officers yelled to not move and put his hands up. Curry reportedly ignored commands and pulled out a handgun.

That was when officers allegedly fired at Curry but did not shoot him. Only then did Curry allegedly throw the gun back at officers and surrendered.
