Heritage Hills and Mater Dei shine in wrestling sectionals

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – Wrestling sectionals took place across Southwestern Indiana on Saturday. Heritage Hills and Mater Dei showed out to win their sectionals with the most team points.

Heritage Hills is coming off a win last year as well. The program is no stranger to winning, especially with last week’s PAC championship. Champion of the 120 pound weight class, Berke Eisenhauer said this week was all focus.

“We came into the room this week and wanted the sectional title. We practiced really hard. Other teams might’ve taken the week off and relaxed because they did well, but we worked hard,” said Eisenhauer.

Memorial placed second place at the Castle sectional. North did the same at Central and so did Jasper at Southridge.

Next up is regionals on this upcoming Saturday. This week’s Castle and Central qualifiers will compete at Castle. Meanwhile, those who qualified for the next round at Southridge will be at Bloomington South.
