‘Personal agenda’: County Commissioners want to oust Area Plan Commission leadership

EVANSVILLE — The Vanderburgh County Commissioners want to replace the executive director of Area Plan Commission, a man county commission president Cheryl Musgrave once likened to a “dictator.

Last week, Musgrave, along with fellow commissioners Justin Elpers and Ben Shoulders, voted to send a letter to Mayor Stephanie Terry announcing their intent to find new leadership for the APC. The letter named director Ron London and the department’s legal representation, attorney Dirck Stahl, as the two on the chopping block.

Elpers confirmed to the Courier & Press both Stahl and London will remain in their positions until potential replacements are found.

The Courier & Press reached out to both Stahl and London for comment. They didn’t respond.

Terry said Wednesday she received the commissioners’ letter, and appreciated them reaching out with their concerns.

“I am in the process of responding to their letter, and look forward to working with them directly to best serve our community through this joint department,” Terry told the Courier & Press in a statement.
