Comfortable neighborhood bar and grill welcomes diners to Cynthiana

CYNTHIANA, Ind. − In the tiny town of Cynthiana, just north of Evansville on Indiana 65, a comfortable little tavern and restaurant called The Route 65 Tavern has opened.

Owner Destiny Bradburn hasn’t owned a restaurant before, but has worked in many of them.

“After a lot of thought and talking to friends in the area, we decided it would be a good idea,” she said. “I’ve worked in restaurants for many years and love the industry, and decided this was the next step for me.”

She chose the building formerly known as JJ’s Restaurant, which was owned by Kent Hopf, who the customers called Hoppy, and designed what she calls “a little hometown tavern where all of the people of Cynthiana can gather, socialize, and reminisce.”

“This building holds a special place in the locals’ hearts because they grew up eating here and coming in to see Hoppy,” Bradburn said. “He was a colorful character, and we’ve heard many great stories and had a lot of good laughs. His personality still runs through this building and we are so happy we could open the doors again … We have a fantastic team and just want to provide a laid-back atmosphere where people can come to have a good burger and relax.”
