HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- On January 31, the Evansville Wartime Museum will reveal a brand new exhibit called “Jan and Tom Howell WWII Kitchen and Dining Room” in honor of former Board of Director member Jan Howell.

The exhibit is an immersive experience that will place museum visitors into the life of the average WWII family. The exhibit will feature era-specific furnishing including a gas refrigerator, bottle holder, gas stove, cabinets, telephone, information on rationing and maintaining a victory garden and even a cookbook. The exhibit will also feature a WWII Army and Navy Battle Plane Spotters chart and a WWII service flag, which family member would display in their windows.
Howell played a large role in the success of the Wartime Museum, prior to her passing in May of 2023. Jan’s Husband Tom Howell, was also stationed on an LST during WWII.
