Deputies say home damaged by drunk driver in Vanderburgh County

An affidavit states the driver of a black Chevrolet Suburban, later identified as Rodney Kessler, had fled on foot past the Marathon gas station. Police were able to detain him, and witnesses say Kessler rear ended a Ford F-150 truck that was stopped at the intersection at high speed. Both the truck and SUV were towed.

Police state the truck had five people, three of which were children. The driver and passenger were complaining of pain. Officials say all five were transported via AMR to a hospital.

Officials say Kessler had slurred speech and couldn’t keep balance. He was transported to Deaconess Midtown and allegedly agreed to a blood draw where officials state results are pending.
