Evansville man who flipped table during battery trial found guilty

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A man accused of kicking and attempting to disarm an Evansville Police officer during an incident in June of 2023 was found guilty on multiple charges on Thursday.

According to court documents, officers were dispatched to Ricks Sports Bar on June 23, after receiving a call that a man was threatening to shoot someone. Police say they located a suspect, identified as David Michael Hodges, near Covert Avenue.

While officers searched Hodges, court documents say a glass pipe was found, and Hodges exhibited symptoms of illegal narcotics usage. AMR was called to the scene to treat Hodges, but authorities say he became combative and kicked one of the officers and grabbed a weapon in an attempt to disarm an officer.

Court records show Hodges flipped a table at the beginning of his trial after his motion to continue the set trial date was denied.
