Mardi Gras for Paws kicks off in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Mardi Gras for Paws kicks off another year in Evansville.

The Stockwell Inn is hosting a Mardi Gras celebration that supports It Takes a Village animal rescue.

Mardi Gras beads are being sold with proceeds benefiting the animals.

The restaurant will have fresh crawfish, fried gator, oysters, gumbo and more.

Dogs are also welcome at outdoor tables.

“The same people come in here. For 12 years I have met so many people. And I’m 80 years old so I get to come over here and talk and have myself a good time and make a lot of money to help what we need to do over there,” said Bobby Conway, who was helping sell beads.

“It Takes a Village is a non-profit so we depend on fundraisers and donations from the public. And all of this, it helps,” said ITV Board Vice President Terri Melton.

The celebration runs through February 13.
