‘It’s finally time we got it done.’ Brownsburg wins IHSAA wrestling state championship.

EVANSVILLE – Darrick Snyder was over the state championship talk. He heard enough.

On Saturday during the 86th annual IHSAA Wrestling state finals in Evansville, it was time for definitive action, and his Brownsburg Bulldogs finally silenced the chatter with deafening results inside the Ford Center.

Junior Jake Hockaday (37-2) and sophomore Revin Dickman (41-2) each claimed individual weight-class titles at 132 and 116 pounds, respectively, and the Bulldogs ended their team title drought while snapping Crown Point’s two seasons of dominance.

The Bulldogs collected eight medals overall with six wrestlers finishing in the top-three to amass 124.5 team points ahead of runner-up Center Grove with 121.5 points and Crown Point in third with 121.0.

“I always tell the guys; Brownsburg is the only team for the last decade that’s in the conversation to win a dual and an IHSAA state title. For 10 years, we’re always in that conversation, but I told them, I’m tired of being in that conversation and not getting it done,” Snyder said.
