Vehicle Catches Fire on Audubon Parkway

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — A fiery scene on the Audubon Parkway ends with a car going up in flames and a woman barely making it out in time.

Smoke from the vehicle could be seen about a mile out from the scene. The driver says it sounded like something was dropping on the inside before she saw smoke.

She quickly hopped out and called 911.

By the time agencies arrived on scene, the vehicle was engulfed.

One lane on the east side of Audubon Parkway was closed to create a safety barrier for firefighters.

Emergency responders say putting the fire out only took a few minutes, and they spent over an hour trying to control heat generated from the vehicle.

Officials say next steps will be left to the driver’s insurance company.
