Baines pleads guilty in Owensboro triple homicide

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – One of the suspects in a 2019 triple homicide in Owensboro has taken a plea deal.

According to Daviess County Commonwealth’s Attorney Mike Van Meter, Arnett Baines pleaded guilty to three counts of murder, and several other charges on May 7 in Daviess County Circuit Court.

This is in reference to a murder case from 2019 .

Officials say Baines was sentenced to life in prison without the benefit of parole or probation until he has served a minimum of 25 years. Prosecutors had originally sought the death penalty against Baines and co-defendant Cylar Shemwell.

While the case against Arnett Baines has been settled, Shemwell is due back in court on May 20.
