VOTE: Indiana Drive-In Theater Nominated Among Nation’s Best

A Southern Indiana gem, the Holiday Drive-In is in the running for USA Today’s Reader’s Choice Best Drive-In. The first drive-in movie theater opened in Camden, New Jersey, on June 6, 1933, and by the 1950s, there were more than 4,000 drive-in theaters in the United States. In 2024, there are currently fewer than 400 in operation. What was once a popular place to visit, has become kind of a thing of the past. Some folks may not have even been to a drive-in movie theater, or even have one in their area. That being said, according to Visit Indiana, the state of Indiana has the fourth most drive-in theatres in America.
