Local Troopers honored during Kentucky State Police Annual Awards Ceremony

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- The Kentucky State Police honored 55 troopers and officers during the 2023 Sworn Awards, including two troopers from the Post 16 area.

Detective Joshua Turner was named Post 16 Detective of the year, and Trooper Clayton Jones was named the Post 16 Trooper of the year. During the ceremony, KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. commented on the agency’s troopers and officers for going above and beyond saying, “We recognize the dedication, bravery and extraordinary efforts of our troopers and officers. Whether it was a heroic act in the face of danger, an exceptional investigation that led to justice or a moment of compassion that made a lasting impact, each of your have demonstrated what it means to serve with honor.”

In 2023, KSP responded to over 400,000 requests for assistance throughout the Commonwealth and has more than 1,000 sworn personnel wearing the badge of honor, which is the highest number of troopers the agency has employed since 2017.
